Build an AI that spies on your competitors.
Your competitor drops their price, ships a feature, and starts running ads, and you find out weeks too late. Here is how to build your own AI spy with Claude in about ten minutes. It watches the pages you choose, reports what changed every morning, and costs nothing but your Claude plan. The exact prompt and setup are below.
You are my competitor-intel analyst. Watch these pages: - [competitor pricing URL] - [competitor homepage URL] - [competitor changelog URL] - [competitor Meta Ad Library URL] Each run: fetch every page, compare it to the version you saved last time, and report ONLY what changed. Group changes as PRICE, FEATURE, or ADS. For each change give the old value, the new value, and a one-line "why it matters". If nothing changed, reply "No changes today." Keep it under 150 words.
Swap the bracketed URLs for your competitor’s real pages, then run it daily.
List what to watch
ClaudePick the competitor pages that actually signal a move: their pricing page, their homepage or product page, their changelog, and their ad library (Meta and TikTok ad libraries are public). Five to ten URLs per competitor is plenty. These become the pages Claude checks.
Give Claude the one instruction
The promptPaste the prompt below into Claude with your URLs. It reads each page, compares it against what it saw yesterday, and writes a short report of only what changed, grouped into price, features and ads, with the old and new values. No noise, just the deltas that matter.
Run it on a schedule
Claude / Claude CodeDo it daily so you catch moves within hours, not weeks. In Claude you can save the prompt as a project and run it each morning; with Claude Code or the API you can fully automate it on a cron so it runs itself while you sleep. Keep a running log so 'compared to yesterday' actually has a yesterday.
Send the report where you'll see it
Email / SlackA report you never read is useless. Have it land in your inbox or a Slack channel at 8am. If nothing changed, it should say so in one line. When something does change, you get the alert the same morning and can react while it still matters.
Act on the signal
Your playbookThe point isn't to watch, it's to move. Price drop? Decide whether to match or hold and sharpen your value. New feature? Update your comparison page and sales talk track. New ads? Study the angle and test your own. Speed is the edge.
Watch the pages you’re allowed to
Stick to public pages: pricing, product, changelogs, and the official Meta and TikTok ad libraries. Don’t scrape behind logins or bypass anti-bot measures. For a page that blocks automated fetches, check it manually or use its public feed. Public signals are more than enough to never be the last to know.
